The Week Ahead - Term 4, Week 8
Monday 23 November to Friday 27 November 2020
From the Head of College
This week is the second last week of the 2020 school year. If I look through my diary, I can see that there are many fun events being planned. The final dinners for Year 6 students at both the Warwick Street Campus and the Hume Street Campus will be highlights, along with the Closing Worship and Chapel at all three campuses.
The Warwick Street Campus Musical (Tuesday 24 November), Hume Street Campus Musical (Wednesday 25 November) and the final activities for Stephen Street Campus students on Thursday 26 November will round off our year with students.
Year 8 students will be spending a few days at Mt Binga and our Year 10 students will be involved in the Peer Support program being held around the College. The final The Week Ahead will be published on Friday 27 November.
It was delightful to join our Year 12 Class of 2020 at brunch in the âPear-Shaped Gardenâ during the week. What a journey they have had throughout their 13 years of primary and secondary education!
I look forward to welcoming them back into the College as they attend the Scholars Assembly in February 2021 â a time to recognise all student achievement and to learn of the offers that those who are University bound receive, along with the apprenticeship and training placements that will set out their future pathways.
Our hope is that we will be able to welcome larger numbers of our community into the Chapel for the service. For information, the Queensland Certificate of Education - ATAR results will be released on 19 December.
Enjoy the week ahead as I am sure that it will be fun for students and staff.
Kind regards and every blessing.

From the Director
Itâs a race to the finish line next week as we complete Term 4, 2020. Week 8 in Term 4 is traditionally a week of celebration and events, and even though we have some slight modifications, these will go ahead this year also.
Our first important event will be on Monday night when staff, parents and Year 6 students come together to celebrate the end of their Junior College journey at the Year 6 dinner. This is a night of reminiscing about their years at WSC as well as talking all things Year 6 in 2020 before the students move into the Middle College.
We also look forward to many of our WSC parents joining us on Wednesday afternoon for an end of year catch up. This will be a âhelloâ as well as a âgoodbyeâ as it has been a long time since we have seen parents on campus. Please donât forget to register if you are intending to come and bring your own picnic rug.

One Week to Go!
It hardly seems possible that we are only a week away from the end of the school year. A reminder that our last day of school for the term is Thursday 26 November finishing at 3.10 pm.
With the External Examinations finally over, our Year 12 students have been popping back in for some informal gatherings. Our inaugural Year 12 Brunch on Tuesday morning was a wonderful way to all come together and celebrate the completion of their schooling journey. Feel free to have a look at the photos from this event on our Collegeâs Facebook page.
This morning we recognised our sporting studentsâ achievements at a very pared-down Sports Breakfast and will be presenting our Years 7-11 students with their academic and outstanding achievement awards in recognition of their achievement and endeavour for the year, today and Monday. As a parent myself, I fully appreciate how strange it feels to not be able to be present at these most significant moments in your childâs life.
Next week will see our Year 8 cohort head off to Mt Binga for their three-day camp. We wish them every blessing as they gain a taste of what lies ahead at Googa next year. Our Year 10 students will be working through their Peer Support training in preparation for their important roles as Peer Support Leaders for our 2021 Year 7 students.
To top off the fun for next week, the Year 9 students are doing their Table Top hike and the lucky Year 11 students have their exams! The final wrap up for the year will be in the form of a belated Reformation Race which should be a great way to get into the holiday mood.
To all the students who are finalising their assessment, you are nearly there! Enjoy the satisfaction of making your final submissions for the year. To parents, a reminder that you will be able to see the feedback that teachers are providing to your child via . If you can, sit with your student and they will be able to take you through the feedback in their Student Café. Please contact Student Reception if you are having difficulty navigating your way to this feedback.
Warm regards,
Mr Jason Smith

Years 11 and 12 - Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) Applications
Application for students in Year 11 and Year 12 in 2021.
An Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) is provided to minimise as much as possible, barriers for students whose disability, impairment, medical condition or other circumstances may affect their ability to read, respond or participate in assessment.
If your daughter or son is entering Year 11 or Year 12 in 2021 and you are wanting to support your child through submitting an AARA application, an AARA Medical Report and a Student Statement must be submitted to the Director of Learning and Innovation. Please use the links below. Alternatively, hard copies of the documents are available at Student Services.
After completing the forms, as well as providing proof of a medical diagnosis, these can be handed to Student Services or emailed directly to Wendy.Bowen@concordia.qld.edu.au.
Queensland Curriculum Assessment Authority (QCAA) have changed the AARA application process. They now require medical support documents to be dated the year the AARA is required for. For 2021, all medical documents to support an AARA application must be dated 2021.
If you need more information, please donât hesitate in contacting the College on 4688 2700 or email me directly at Wendy.Bowen@concordia.qld.edu.au
