The Week Ahead - Term 4, Week 8
Monday 20 November to Friday 24 November
From the Head of College
It was a fitting final farewell on Wednesday as we said goodbye to our Year 12 cohort as they celebrated the end of their final exams and their schooling with a Graduation Brunch in the Pear Shape Garden. Students were able to enjoy some time altogether as a group for one last time while teachers wandered down to chat with them as well. Thank you to our Year 12 graduates for the commitment and dedication you have given to not only your studies but also to Concordia. We wish you God’s richest blessings as you enter the next chapter of your lives.
Our Year 6 students are also beginning a new chapter of their lives as they finish their primary school years and prepare to enter high school next year. The final Year 6 celebration was in the form of their respective campus dinners which were held this week. Thank you to Paul Baker, Kellie Maddock, Fiona Collingwood and all Junior College staff for the time and effort put into organising these events. These dinners are part of a rich tradition at Concordia and are a proud moment for students, parents and staff. Congratulations Year 6. We look forward to continuing your journey with you as you enter Year 7 next year.
Even though we are almost at the end of the year and finalising our teaching and learning, our teaching staff are always planning ahead. As we begin the implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum in 2024, our Junior College teaching staff have participated in their first planning day this week and will continue with another planning day next week. I wanted to pass on my thanks for the work and dedication of all our Concordia teaching staff as they not only work to finalise 2023 but also as they look ahead to 2024.Our Junior College Inter-house swimming carnival was held yesterday with some friendly but fierce competition. Congratulations to all students who competed in this carnival and earned some points for their house team. Thank you also to Mr Darryl Fry and Mr Troy Chandler for their work in organising another successful swimming carnival.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Monday night as we celebrate the achievements of our students in Years 6-11 at our Awards Presentation evening at the Empire Theatre. This event is a wonderful culmination and celebration of another year of exceptional work from all our Concordia students. All families are invited to attend.
As we move into the final week of Term 4 and the end of the 2023 school year, I wish you all a safe and relaxing weekend.
Blessings for the week ahead.

Boarding News
Hello to all of our families!
This week has been extremely emotional for our boarders as they said their final goodbyes to the Year 12 ‘s who returned for their very last breakfast at Concordia this week. It was great for the students to have George and Keenan call into the boarding houses. I know our Year 12’s will leave a little of themselves here with us and will take away lifelong friends and memories. This chapter of their lives has ended, and there is a whole new chapter of life waiting! Your future is not something to fear it is a challenge to embrace. Embrace the possibilities, there are many wonderful journey’s to begin.
The remaining boarders’ students are finishing off assessments and end of year exams. Many are looking forward to end of term next week, so as they can return home to family. A well-deserved rest from routines and education.
Thank you, Parents and Caregivers for choosing 鶹ý Boarding for your child ’s home away from home and education this year. We all look forward to their return in 2024. On behalf of the Boarding team, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
