We all know that literacy is vital for education and for lifelong learning, but did you also know that reading for pleasure can benefit for our mental and physical health? The act of reading for pleasure can help with anxiety, create a sense of connection, and can help to lower your heart rate and relax your body.

JC Christmas for the Bush

It has become a tradition in our Junior College to support the amazing work of Care Outreach by contributing to their Christmas For The Bush program.

Care Outreach has been supporting outback families for over 30 years. Christmas for the Bush is an annual event, delivering Christmas hampers and gifts to struggling families in rural and remote regions. Farming families work incredibly hard. Loss of income, isolation and depression are some of the issues these families deal with on a daily basis. Care Outreach works to bring encouragement, support and hope to farming families in need.

In Term 4, the Junior College is again supporting Care Outreach with their Christmas for the Bush appeal. You can help by donating...

  • Non-perishable food and Christmas treats
  • Toys and family gifts
  • Toiletries
  • Pre-paid visa cards

Donation baskets have been placed in every classroom. 100% goes to our farmers! For specific needs, please visit and click on the 'Christmas for the Bush' tab.

Care Outreach are excited to have our support again this year, and we look forward to assisting their Christmas for the Bush campaign. Thank you for considering this worthwhile appeal.

Christmas for the Bush will conclude with a Junior College Chapel Service lead by our Year 1 students in the SSC Chapel on Friday 1 November at 9.30am. Everyone is invited to come along.

JC Prep Pevan & Sarah Concert Excursion - Wednesday 23 October

On Wednesday 23 October we will be going on an excursion to The Empire Theatre to watch Pevan & Sarah.

Pevan and Sarah are a subscription service that create educational content to engage children in early learning. They sing songs and create games that we use daily in our classroom for Math, English and Daily transitions. We were very excited to see that they were coming to Toowoomba in person.

Please for all the details and provide permission in Parent Lounge if you haven't already done so.

The Ponytail Project

The Ponytail Project isn’t just about losing your hair—it’s about gaining a sense of pride and purpose. It’s about standing in solidarity with the families and individuals who are battling cancer every day. For many of us, this fight is personal. Almost everyone knows someone close—a family member or a friend —who has been affected by cancer. It’s a disease that hits home for so many of us, and through this project, we have the chance to support those who are going through some of the toughest times in their lives.
