Community News
10 budding music performance students from the College were able to experience a joyful celebration of songs about bravery and heroism at the Armitage Theatre on Saturday evening. Opera Qld did not disappoint with their repertoire ranging from pop to opera, country to classical genres while covering artists including The Beatles, David Bowie, John Farnham as well as Beethoven and Bizet. This live musical tribute inspired students with their chart-topping anthems from the musical archives and unique mashups that demonstrated not only the impressive vocal talents of the performers, but also their ability to provide their own instrumental backing with piano, guitars, fiddles, percussion instruments and the piano accordion all being performed live on stage.
The overarching message throughout the evening was that not all heroes wear capes. The audience was taken on a journey to really discover and reflect on what it means to be a hero, discovering that the definition of a hero changes over time and with different circumstances. Some heroes included our parents who could scare away those monsters under the bed, the classic comic book heroes such as Wonderwoman, the ancient Greek hero Hercules as well as the everyday heroes of nurses and teachers.
This show believed the powerful message that each person possesses a unique superpower and that grand acts of courage need not always make headlines. Everyone can be a hero, if only for a day.

Boarding
Boarding News
Hi to all our Concordia boarding families.
As we step into the second term of the school year, our boarding students have returned with enthusiasm after a well-deserved break.
Last week, our students had the opportunity to attend the annual Toowoomba Show. This event was a highlight for many, as they spent the day cheering on the monster cars, exploring the sideshow alley, visiting the agricultural displays and watching the fireworks.
Maureen and I had the privilege of reconnecting with several of our alumni at the Toowoomba Show. We were stationed at the Concordia Display within the Founders Pavillion, where we spoke with current students, their families, and our old scholars. It was a great experience to see the lasting bonds within our school community.
In commemoration of Anzac Day, Miss Hannah and Miss Gigi accompanied seven of our boarding students to the Dawn Service. Despite the early morning wake-up call at 4:15am, the students showed immense respect during the ceremony. Their morning finished with a short stop at McDonald's, where they grabbed a much-needed treat after their early start.
As the cooler weather sets in Toowoomba, we have transitioned to our winter uniforms. We kindly remind all students and parents to refer to the uniform guide to ensure everyone is properly outfitted for the colder months. It’s also a good time to remember to have extra warm clothes, as the chillier weather will require more layers to stay comfortable.
We're thrilled to see everyone back and look forward to a term filled with learning, growth, and more wonderful experiences.
Until next time,
Mrs Maureen Taurima and Mr Andrew Bull
