Almost 300 pre-registrations have been received, making this event the most successful Open Day by far. A reminder to download the as this will give you an opportunity to plan your morning of events. See you there!
Academic Scholarships
Congratulations to all students who sat for 2022 Academic Scholarships in February of this year. We have been informed that results will be available to schools shortly, and we will be making scholarship offers prior to the end of Term 1, 2021. A reminder that the 2022 Specialist Scholarship round will occur in Term 2, 2021, details of which are currently on the College’s website.

Please be aware that health considerations are still in place. Thankfully, there is an easing of restrictions; however, the key elements of good health practice remain:
- Stay home if you are feeling unwell, and get tested if any COVID-19 symptoms are evident.
- Wash hands with soap after using the toilet or after sneezing, and dispose of tissues correctly.
- Exercise social distancing where possibly and abide by the health guidelines as managed by the College.
- Sign in and out of campus Receptions if you are visiting the College.

Congratulations to our State Swimmer!
Emma Walkington participated at the 2021 QLD Schools 10-12yrs Championships this week. Emma’s mum reported it was, “A very big few days and Emma did very well. It was a great experience.”
She placed 10th in the relay, 16th in the 100m Breaststroke and 23rd in the 50m Breaststroke. Well done Emma, great results.
Nuts
Please remember we are a nut free school. We do have a couple of students with allergies to nuts so would appreciate lunch boxes to be kept nut free. This includes peanut butter as well.
HSC Superheroes
Leukemia Foundation celebrate the superheroes who both have Leukemia and also those who give to assist Leukemia Foundation. We have also been studying our Bible Heroes during Chapel times. Today, HSC were all superheroes. as we celebrated Eve’s journey this year as well as the Superhero traits of our Bible Hero Decoders. Your children will bring their cape and decoder home today and will hopefully be able to explain their super traits with you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Eve and her family, and we thank all families who have supported with a gold coin donation. Charlotte Scouller was going to shave today but due to a family situation, she has postponed this to early next week.
7-Eleven Cup Rescue Community Program
We have signed up to be a part of the 7-Eleven Cup Rescue Program. If you have any disposable coffee cups that you would like recycled, send them to school with your child and we will collect. 7-Eleven will take them and recycle them appropriately.

Warwick Street Campus
From the Director
It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of Term 1! With only three school days next week, there are still a lot of activities happening in the classrooms as students finish off their work for the term.
This week our Year 5 students participated in a Colonial School with the students from Hume Street Campus, and experienced what school life was like in the late 1800s. While the Year 5 class enjoyed taking a step back in time on Tuesday, they were firmly back in the 21st Century yesterday as they completed their first NAPLAN online practice alongside the Year 3 class.
This test was an opportunity for students and staff to see what the online test would look like and how it would work. After completing the practice test, I am confident the students will be ready for the real deal in May.
On behalf of WSC, I would like to take this opportunity to mention Mr Barrie Knott and Mr Chris Medill who we farewelled from our Grounds staff today. Barrie and Chris have had a long affiliation with Warwick Street Campus and it was fitting to give them a special farewell at our Chapel service this morning. We thank them for their service to Warwick Street Campus and wish them well for their future. I’m sure we will continue to see them around the place, especially in a grandparent capacity for one of them in the coming years!
We are looking forward to Open Day this weekend and are excited at the huge number of people who are eager to come and see all of the things that we have on offer at Warwick Street Campus
to view WSC's Events for Week 10.
Blessings for the week ahead.

Word on the Street
The Word on the Street is that someone is going to be very excited on Wednesday afternoon when we announce the winner of our giant 10kg block of Cadbury chocolate! This will be announced at our closing Chapel service. Entries will close on Tuesday afternoon. Best of luck, everyone!
Stephen Street Campus
From the Director of Campus
Stephen Street Campus is busily preparing for our Open Day tomorrow and we are looking forward to welcoming our visitors and existing families to share in the learning and experiences of our students.
It is not too late to register if you would like to pop in on Saturday for a wander around or to tag along with a tour if you were wanting a more in-depth look at our campus. You will also be able to grab some gourmet sustenance from our amazing team of P&F Volunteers who will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ in the quad with coffee and cake only a couple of steps away… just follow your nose. Many thanks to the students, parents and staff who are involved in making our Open Day the success that it will be.
This week our Years 9/10 and 11/12 students had the opportunity to attend a presentation by on consent and sexual health. I sat in both of these presentations and was very impressed with the way that the presenter from Kobi House delivered the age-appropriate information to our students. I encourage parents to talk to their children about this presentation and to use it as a springboard for healthy conversations around these very important topics.
Finally, a date claimer. Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews are being held on campus on Monday 19 April. We have an online booking process for our interviews with details and link to the booking system being published with our Term 1 Interim Reports. As parents, a reminder that you can see your child’s assessments and feeback via the Parent Lounge portal.

Boarding News
With the end of term fast approaching, there has been a surge by all to get all assessments completed and some serious studying and revision. Our wonderful tutors have given their all in supporting our students by way of extra Guru study sessions and one on one tutoring. A huge thank you! Again we continue to stress to girls and boys alike to make full use of the Library and the morning and afternoon tutoring groups made available by the teachers.
Moving on to the Boarding program. Great work has been done in gutting two rooms (one in Temme and one in Giabal) by the maintenance staff. Refurbishing will commence this week with an expected completion date on 14 April. Both Boarding Captains will move into their new rooms at the beginning of Term 2.
Excitement is building with the dress fittings for the musical done on Friday and full day rehearsals on Saturday for the cast. Well done all for your tremendous commitment and endurance. Hopefully a quiet day on Sunday to recharge for the week ahead with your exams.
This week we turned on our new electric barbecue which was absolutely wonderful to cook on with Alistair at the helm and doing a great job. The students all commented how good it was.
Ms Maureen made Fried Bread with Chrissy sampling and Nadia excited that she was having what her grandfather used to cook and sell at the markets in PNG, called Flour Buns. The boys and girls alike loved them during that cold snap. Some foods always remind us of home. Ms Maureen cooked for three days to cook enough for all. One student asked me why I cooked for them and he answered for me, “You just love to cook,” like my Nan.
Carbal Health Coordinator Ms Toni met up with some of our students this week with Nurse Libby for a health talk and were delighted to receive a bag of health products each. The Year 12 girls, Nadia and Jana, received a lovely handbag. Thanks goes to Nurse Libby for organising.
Most of our sports were cancelled this week due to the weather. Girls volleyball had a great win and our girls basketballers narrowly lost their Semi Final. Training will continue till the end of term.
Myles, Leroy, Stuart and Jahaarn put on their runners and completed the Middle Ridge Park Run with Nurse Libby and Mr Cowper. Great efforts and with such an early rise on a Saturday morning.
Mr Ross is on leave until Term 2 and has returned to Cairns. He will be back with us at the beginning of Term 2. Nurse Libby will be looking after Temme House with Ms Maureen. Please feel free to call either one of us if needed.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Kucks family with the loss of a very special and treasured Grandmother and Great Grandmother. May the good Lord watch over you all during this sad time.
